Hasbro Nerf Reactor customer reviews: Useful, Depending On How You Use It The Nerf Reactor has been released, re-released, and re-re-released. Hasbro didn't change the gun when they re-released it, they just painted it a new color. The one I own is the second color scheme. Anyway, one reviewer wrote that this is bulky, however it is actually much smaller than it looks in the pictures, and is a useful sidearm. The harder and faster you pull, the harder the balls fire, so pull this thing really fast, and you'll get some good range and firepower out of it. It has a great rate of fire, and is fairly accurate, but I took away one star because smaller kids would have a VERY hard time with this thing. However, if you are at least ten years old, this will make a great sidearm, and I reccomend it. It is a very good price too, so you won't pay too much like with the Longshot CS-6. Sincerely, Davy Jones Plain safe fun Although this is not a true educational toy, it is a safe way to teach children about handling a gun without them or our house being destroyed. It is a load of fun and has provided hours of delight for grandchildren and their friends at our home. It seems that shooting a gun is a natural curiosity for children and this has provided an avenue for that curiosity. Of course, the Nerf toys have always been a preference for us and so one more is always welcome. There does not seem to be an age range for this item!! Even grandpa gets in on the fun. Fun, safe, but takes some strength It's a fun toy that's not going to put out any eyes or bust up your house, but the pump-action firing mechanism seems to take a lot of upper body strength. My nieces are 4 and 6, and pretty fit for little kids. The 6-year-old can just barely muster the muscle to pop off a shot if she grits her teeth, squeeeeeeeezes 'til she's purple, and doesn't bother trying to aim at anything. The 4-year-old? Well, she's figured out that she can make it shoot if she braces the gun against the floor and pushes down. But then, more often then not, she shoots herself in the face, so it's kind of a wash. It's a fun, safe toy, and the blue Nerf "ammo" balls are large and conspicuous enough that they're not going to get lost too easily. I'd recommended it for kids who are a little older, though. From my observations, you'd have to be one buff 6-year-old to have an easy time with this gun's pump-fire action. Yee-haaa! This provides toddlers the awesome power of mini-dodge-ball-esque shoot-out fun! Perfect for 4 and 5 year olds, not perfect for 2 year-olds, mine tends to resort to hitting his brothers minus the balls! It's also pretty cool to manipulate it to shoot out 2-3 balls all at once! You can purchase additional balls separately, which you will want to, you'll find some later, in odd places while cleaning the house! Great toy and lots of fun! We bought a couple of these guns for my sons birthday as we set-up a mock shooting range in the backyard for his party with 2 teams and targets for each. This gun was by far one of their favorites used. It is pretty durable and the balls shoot farther than you would think they would. They also do not hurt if you get hit with one. It has a semi-decent aim once you get it down and they balls fly nicely through the air. You can also load a few balls at once to keep shooting. I like it better than a rapid fire gun as you have to actually aim to shoot and hit a target. My son and his friends love this toy and play with it almost everyday.
